My question is this. Love my aeropress and my bialetti. So i think that with the moka and the aeropress the brew is more expresso type and the french is closer to drip strength. 2 how does a moka pot work.
I was looking at a french press vs. It s not technically espresso because there s not as much pressure. As far as brew time goes the aeropress beats the moka pot by miles. Moka pots are humble coffee machines.
From my own sampling i thought the moka pot made coffee that was a bit more potent more like espresso. I love good quality flavorful coffee. There s no one best way to do it. Also with the moka or aeropress can you dilute after you go through the process to suit strength taste.
I actually preferred the moka express better at first. I have an aeropress also which is kinda similar in that both it and moka work at a couple bars pressure but the aeropress is cleaner while moka has a thicker more heavy mouthfeel and taste neither makes espresso however. For me the aeropress is for my morning cup but a moka pot is for a chill evening with friends or something where time is not an issue and sharing is encouraged. Yes the moka pot takes about 5 6 minutes to heat.
Also called the stovetop espresso maker the moka pot brews coffee in the most similar way to an espresso machine through pressure. What i found after getting to the end of my cup however was that the aeropress made a far cleaner cup than my moka pot and you could actually drink the last little bit of coffee in the cup. I found if you heat the water too fast it doesn t taste right as it passes through the grounds too quickly. Nothing fancy like the aeropress or the keurig.
I don t really like very strong tasting coffee. 1 1 how an aeropress works. I actually feel that the aeropress is much easier to use and it s a lot more forgiving. I also felt the aeropress made coffee a bit more like a super thick and robust french press coffee brew.
But since the moka pot offers fancier varieties as well it takes the lead here. 3 is a moka pot cheaper than an aeropress. Aeropresses create a much smoother concentrate than moka pots as well as takes under 5 minutes including bringing the water to boil. Knowing the pros and cons of each brewing method will put you on your way to the cup of coffee that fits your life perfectly.
However they will not disappoint you because they can give you a strong and delicious cup of coffee anytime you need it. Your getting more of that mouthfeel taste etc but in a much more concentrated form.
