Aeropress Vs Moka Pot
Looks like it may remove some of the oils.
Aeropress vs moka pot. I like both but prefer the aeropress i d try inverted aeropress for low ratio low volume coffee. Love my aeropress and my bialetti. How are moka pots and aeropress similar. From what i read on.
August 20 2018 at 7 29 pm hmmm. I also felt the aeropress made coffee a bit more like a super thick and robust french press coffee brew. I would follow james hoffman s advice on how to brew with a moka pot start with hot water don t let it steam and shock it with ice water after you re done brewing. Essentially both the aeropress and the moka pot are quite similar.
You can get a respectable moka pot for around 30. Yes the moka pot takes about 5 6 minutes to heat. Either way you re getting near espresso coffee without the hefty price of an espresso maker. Moka pot does not require a filter too.
The only difference is that the pressure is far less in these two methods than in a typical espresso machine. They both make use of pressure to brew coffee much like an espresso machine does. Several months ago i moved next to an awesome local artisan coffee shop and started to really get into coffee. What i found after getting to the end of my cup however was that the aeropress made a far cleaner cup than my moka pot and you could actually drink the last little bit of coffee in the cup.
A moka pot makes a fauxspresso as well but it s different from what an aeropress makes. It can make a concentrate or fauxspresso as some call it. Takes me about 5 6 minutes. Moka pot produces some good and very interesting coffee.
I don t like things too strong cappuccino or latte person nor do i like the bitterness or extreme acidity of some coffees sensitive teeth. I know most of you are livid with me for not reveling in the bitterness or acidity. Use that as a baseline and then try it with the aeropress filter repeat 3 times. Aeropress is easier to adjust if you want a bit stronger coffee or a bit weaker you can adjust the ratio and brew time with moka pot there s exactly 1 size 1 ratio and you can t really change brewing time.
The moka pot squeaks out a win here since even though the aeropress comes with all the equipment you need the moka pot has less overall equipment to take care of. The aeropress is very versatile and makes coffee with a moderate body. From my own sampling i thought the moka pot made coffee that was a bit more potent more like espresso. I love my moka pot.
For me the aeropress is for my morning cup but a moka pot is for a chill evening with friends or something where time is not an issue and sharing is encouraged. Or you can splurge for one in the 80 100 range that looks impressive and will probably last as long as you do. Aeropresses create a much smoother concentrate than moka pots as well as takes under 5 minutes including bringing the water to boil. Note that neither fauxspresso is anything like a true espresso.
